Dissapointed from Solihull January 3, 2009 Mr T from Solihull Having read mixed reviews about this product, I decided to purchase as 38 is a lot less money than the 350+ my Toyota dealer wanted to wire in Bluetooth/MP3 connectivity, My Cigarette Lighter is in the centre console of the car, so the first problem is the leads that join the components together are slightly too short for my car. I also found that the preset search chose frequencies that were not clear. The biggest problem by far however was if you moved the I Pod player more than an inch(literally) from the faceplate of the radio you lost the signal, so to mount the Ipod on a cradle meant you had no signal.Overall I would not recommend this product, I have reverted to my old transmitter, and I will persevere with this until something better comes along.Griffin iTrip AutoPilot - FM Transmitter & Auto Charger For iPod With iPod Controls And Smartscan
Returned to Amazon December 31, 2008 Mr. O. Brown I received this product this morning to use my iPhone 3G in the car and it has already been sent back to amazon. The bad points are as follows... -Poor sound quality, sounds very muffled (I don't expect cd quality but this is not good). -Static interuptions approx every 5 seconds (tested on various stations which the device found most suitable). -SmartScan stations which the device found, often contain lots of background noise. -Buttons to 'control' the device don't always work. -The 'control' device will loose power when disconnected - not a problem, apart from the slightest knock will cause it to disconnect. This is my experiece of the product and by the look of other reviews, it does look like 'hit or miss' with this product.
Excellent product - dont hesitate to buy this December 12, 2008 Mr. Wma Stezenko (Reading, England) I was running through all the reviews of all the different versions of the itrip available on amazon and was a little skeptical about purchasing one as everyone seemed to have a bad review however my advice is ignore them. This is an excellent product, it charges your iphone , the cigarette lighter controls are excellent, the RDS text works on my car without any problems, it does everything it should. There is a small delay of a couple of seconds for it to update but this is normal and it provides all the artist, track, & album info. Excellent sound quality, bare in mind this is wireless using FM radio so you're never going to get crystal clear CD quality sound but if you find an empty radio frequency (which there are plenty if you have a good scan through on your radio)it works brilliantly. My only major criticism is the smartscan function, it does seem to assign the 3 frequencies to stations that are not completely clear .
Terrible performance December 2, 2008 Jasper West (Kent, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The wide range of opinions in the reviews here suggests there may be some serious quality control problems at Griffin. The unit I received was effectively unusable: - RDS display worked intermittently or not at all - Transmitter level was much lower than previous iTrips I've used - The unit would periodically lock up, ceasing to broadcast or respond to its controls until it was unplugged and reconnected - 'Smartscan' succeeded in finding frequencies carrying powerful radio stations. Clearly, based on the other reviews here, your mileage may vary. A lot. Mine went straight back to Amazon.
Nice piece of kit October 30, 2008 Mr. W. Hindle Excellent piece if kit for your iPod. Does exactly what it says in the description and i had it up and running in under 5 mins.
