2 out of 5 stars not that good   January 13, 2008

The transmission range is about 5 feet, maybe 6 feet on a good day, but beyond that it breaks up into static. Even under 5 feet, the signal strength is too low. If you turn up the mp3 player beyond about half volume then the sound starts to distort, with the bass getting very farty. But even with the mp3 volume at two-thirds you still have to turn the radio way up (causing more hiss) before the sound comes out at even a reasonable level. There is also a background hum, like electrical interference, which wouldn't go away, even when I changed radio/location/power source. In the car the transmission range fell to about 3 feet, so if you put it down on the seat the signal disappeared !!
