4 out of 5 stars Works with latest ipod classic.   August 23, 2008
Fitted in 2004 e class mercedes and works fine. Sound is much better than expected. Using with 80gb Ipod classic. Wasn't sure if it would work because that Ipod isn't on the compatibility list. Took the gamble as the price was so low. All the features work including volume and mono/stereo. Was delivered 2 days after ordering with other items on super saver delivery. Well done Amazon !!!

3 out of 5 stars Almost there   August 22, 2008

Just received the product this morning and tested it already on the car radio and one radio-CD player in the kids room. Initially on the radio-CD player I plugged this beauty (piano black finish) into my newish Ipod 5 (80Gig version)with the screen showing immediately 107.9 FM on the Ipod screen (great that such a small and cheap device can use the Ipod's display). The sound was okay since that radio hasn't got high quality speakers. I also have an older Ipod 3 (20Gigs) which I had doubts it would work on and if it did it wouldn't display any frequencies on its screen... I was wrong also on this 4 year old device it worked flawlessly.

Trying it inside the Car with its Bose sound system I have to say that it sounds like it should, a radio transmition, really anyone expecting it to sound better than that has to plug the ipod directly into some kind of physical connection. This is not to say that it is bad, just not CD quality. Was I expecting it? Well... based on some people's feedback I a kind of was...anyway I'm satisfied with it.
I didn't give it a 5 star because one has to place the ipod really very close to the radio whichever car or radio-cd. and using the supplied in-car charger didn't make any difference either. Yes, it charges your ipod while connected to to the charger. And almost forgot, one can change the frequency. I recommend that you try to find a very quite frequency without strange hisses or other noises, put your radio into manual frequency change for that, once done use the arrows on the belkin and match that to your radio's frequency you just put it in. Save or memorize that frequency into your radio and also on your ipod by pressing and holding one of the 4 memory buttons.

You know how it is when you see an item at a low price, read the reviews, check it out somewhere else, come back again, should you, maybe the more expensive one?? UMmmmm. Let me tell you this is an absolutely fantastic gadget. Took a while to get a open frequency and had my doubts. Not for long. I travel from Swindon Wiltshire to Somerset and back just about everyday and all the time on 105.0 no problems. Get it you'll love it, especially for the price you pay. If you can't find a clear line ask about like I did.

5 out of 5 stars Great little device   August 14, 2008

I have bought many of these transmitters and this one is definately the pick of the bunch. The ipod on-screen display and fact it works without being plugged into the mains are 2 of the main reasons I purchased this, but i found the sound quality to be of a high quality (with even options to turn sound from Mono to Stereo!!!). Another attention to detail I liked was that there is a small removable spacer in between ipod and device so that if your ipod has a case around it, then just remove the spacer thus increasing the lenth of the data connector allowing it to reach past the case into the ipod...good thinking!

For those that found this item less than ideal because the sound quality drops when there is interferance from another station, well thats the nature of the beast. All these devices NEED a clear FM frequency in order to clearly play music (just as any radio station does!!!), so if you think this is an issue then go and source a different way of playing ipod in your car...if that doesnt sound like a problem, you could do a WHOLE lot worse than opting for this great, compact and cheap transmitter.

1 out of 5 stars not worth the money   August 9, 2008
Very very disappointed with this product.
First of all it doesn't work with my ipod touch. The touch recognises it as an "accessory" but none of the functions of the tuner actually work.

You can't: change volume output (which is very very quiet)
you can't: change broadcast frequency (107.9 is the only frequency you can use)
you can't: change from mono to stereo
you can't: store frequencies

Quite frankly it's a total waste of money. Save your pennies, buy something else!
