Does The Job October 18, 2008 Malcolm Clarke (Durham, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product attachs itself to the underbelly of your iPod and connects to the car via the cigarette lighter. It uses a short range FM transmitter to transmit the sound from the iPod into the radio, all you do is tune the radio into the frequency you select by using the up and down button on the transmitter. Then your music plays out...simple as that! Plays out as a good quality as long as you leave the charger attached and charging, otherwise can be a bit grainy. But highly recommended and I use it on virtually every journey I make!
Average October 16, 2008 Paul Ryan (Leeds, England) The item was not as good as I hoped it would be, with a weaker signal than previous models I have purchased in the past"
Excellent value for money September 26, 2008 C. Mcleod (Staffordshire, UK) This is the second fm transmitter I've bought and by far the best. For use in the car this is excellent, the only downside is it doesn't work that well in the house unfortunately. In the car however, the reception's great, and it has easy to use preset buttons. It's also well made and has a quality feel. Definitely worth paying a couple of quid extra for this over the other cheaper and far inferior products available on here.
great bit of kit September 11, 2008 Chuck Sputta (HW, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
my 2007 80gb ipod classic works fine with this. sound needs to be fiddled with a bit to get rid of crackles. i found that turning the ipod EQ off and turning vol down to 1 on the device clears it up, esp when in the car. overall sound is better than i expected after adjusting, not quite as crisp as CD, but definitely good enough for driving and not noticeable unless you play the same song through FM then CD brilliant hassle free design (just a plug in and a charger), and removing the spacer means i can use this baby with my existing case, sorted! also like the fact its not a dedicated car fm transmitter, meaning i can use it when i go to the gym. standard mini USB socket on bottom means you can charge and play from PC or mains if you have the cables. at this price, what is everyone waiting for?! xXx
Easy to use; widely compatible September 5, 2008 A. Guy (Chessington, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Received my Belkin TuneFM this morning, a mere 3 days after ordering with Super Saver delivery - good job Amazon! The device comes well packaged with useful instructions, although it's so easy to use they really aren't needed. I'm using the device with my 8 GB 2nd Generation iPod Nano and all the functions work a treat. Living in the London suburbs I thought I may have some reception problems with the number of radio stations broadcasting, however I managed to find a few frequencies with only relatively small amounts of background noise that the TuneFM taps into excellently. I have also tried the device with my 8 GB (EDGE) iPhone running jailbroken 1.1.4 firmware, which informed me that it wasn't a supported accessory when I connected it. I launched iPod and after a bit of flickering of the tuning screen I could transmit music fine, however most the other features such as tuning to different frequencies are useable but won't be displayed on the screen. I suspect it would be a similar scenario for iPod Touch users. Also worth noting there is a big orange sticker on the box that says 'Works with ALL NANOS', so it would be compatible with the new iPod Nano 3rd Generation too. I haven't used the TuneFM on a journey yet, however I suspect it would drain your iPod's battery fairly quickly, so the power cord is a welcome inclusion in the package. Overall this is an excellent device that I can't fault on any point, be it style, usability, functionality or price. So easy to use, and at under a tenner it's an absolute bargain!
