5 out of 5 stars Excellent value   July 20, 2008

I've had this transmitter for a couple of months now and it's still working perfectly. There is some background noise and it is very plasticky but then so are the ones that are much more expensive so I'd highly recommend this item. For the price I just don't think you can go wrong.

Works perfectly, but really eats batteries. Best to use the in-car cable it comes with.

The in-car cable also has a USB slot in, probably to charge mp3 players with, but if you have a USB to USB cable you can use it to power the device from your pc.

4 out of 5 stars A pretty good home radio station for a fiver!   June 4, 2008

To my surprise, this tiny thing really does broadcast reasonable audio to every radio in my solid stone house! The reviewers who say it doesn't work at all must have got duds.

The quality you get depends partly on how noisy the FM band is in your area. Ideally you need a completely silent FM channel, but you're unlikely to find one. I found the lowest freqs best (75.5-75.7) but there is a high-pitched whistle there which remains audible when using this transmitter. To get the transmitter away from the mess of wires round your PC, also order USB and 3.5mm-jack extension cables - this improves quality a bit.

If you want hifi quality music, don't buy this - get a dedicated receiver/transmitter pair on either 863MHz or 2.1GHz (beware the latter can interfere with your WLAN though). But if you're into "listen again" on Radio 4 and 7 (i.e. speech) and want to hear it on your existing radios, this FM transmitter might do the job adequately - and at this price it's worth a try.

I have not tried it in the car.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome gadget!! And sooooo cheap!   May 31, 2008

I can now listen to music in every room of the house that has a radio in it. Infact I can have several radios around the house playing the same music from my pc. And the usb power is a great idea!

Took me longer to open the pack than it did to set up.
